The Future of Family Oriented Music Education

I believe this blog site will provide an opportunity for parents and students to support each other in many ways. First of all, concerns that are common to all of us will be addressed. For instance, "My child won't work the trouble spots and just plows through the practice time stumbling through the piece. " Maybe you thought you were the only one who finds themselves saying, "slow down?" Another example might be, "My child does so much better at home than when they get to class." hmm, does this ring any bells? I have discovered that when I learn of the struggles and accomplishments of others in areas I am working through, I feel like I'm part of a bigger picture and don't feel so isolated. It feels good to share child rearing and parental situations with others.

Students will like to say things like "My favorite song is Spanish Caballero. Why can't all my songs be fun like that?" Or, "I just played Hot Cross Buns for Grandma and Grandpa over the telephone. They used to play piano too!" If we can create a community of musicians and parents of musicians that talk to each other, then we are all going to reap the benefits of that. So let's get started!
